ASSALAMOALAIKUM,

Bismel'Lah'Rahman'Rahim.

The Zakat is paid after you have paid the taxes .

Example:

You pay 40%tax in India.
So let's say that you have earned 100Dollar's and You have paid your 40% tax .
You now have 60Dollar's back.
Now from your 60Dollars you will pay the zakat(2.5%) so You will have to pay 1,50dollar's in zakat.(2,5% of 60dollars)-(2,5x60/100=1,50)

This is how it is done in Denmark find your local Mosque I'm pretty sure they know how it is done !.

The only thing I can say is that Zakat is an INDIVIDUAL obligation, so for example where two people are part of a partnership they would each pay Zakat on their share of the business.

Assalamu Alaikum
There is much baraka in giving sadaqa towards funding or maintaining Mosques, but it is definitely not (as far as I am aware0 an acceptable use of collected Zakat.

A widow (or any Muslim for that matter), with debts to pay is definitely someone to whom collected Zakat can be paid. However, whether one can pay Zakat directly to them is another matter, and generally speaking the answer is No, but of course one can give as much sadaqa to these people as possible, but we just should not consider it to be discharging our duty of Zakat.

Of course if the money is given as sadaqa before our zakat is assessed there will be less Zakat to pay anyway

Wa Alaikum Salaam

Zakat iS NOT for non-Muslims (except possibly in one case 'reconcilling people's hearts). Also if you look at what has been said about local distribution, authority and paying in-kind then you will find the Muslim charities are way down on the list of peiople who should be collecting & distributing Zakat.

Why not find a local person who is well respected in the community and known by everyone and ask him to accept your Zakat and distribute it to local needy Muslims sho fit the Qura'nic categories. This would much closer to the sunnah than giving it to these charities.

On the other hand if it is sadaqa you are talking about then by all means give it to the Muslim charity or even direct to the Cancer society etc
